Cape Associates Field Positions:
Foreman Carpenter – NOW HIRNG! – Foremen should have at least seven to ten years’ carpentry experience, should own a complete set of hand and power tools, own a truck or van with a rack (for transportation of tools and materials) and should have a Construction Supervisor's License. Foremen should have the leadership skills to run a crew; building everything from a small addition to a complete house. Foremen should be willing and able to train their crew of journeymen and apprentice carpenters with the techniques to make them better craftsmen. They should be well organized and able to communicate easily and effectively with owners, office staff, subcontractors, and designers. The foreman organizes the work and coordinates the various aspects of construction. He should be able to meet quality standards, cost requirements, and project time schedules. Must be able to lift 80 pounds.
Journeyman Carpenter – NOW HIRNG! – Journeymen should have several years of carpentry experience, should own a complete set of hand and power tools and own a truck or van with a rack (for transportation of tools and materials). They should be capable of layout, cutting rafters and stair stringers, sidewalling, and roofing. Journeymen should be working towards obtaining their Construction Supervisor's License, if they don’t already have it. They should be able to read and interpret building plans. Must be able to lift 80 pounds.
Apprentice Carpenter – Apprentice carpenters should have two to five years experience, and some power tools. Apprentice Carpenters should continue to invest in themselves by adding to their tool cache. Should be able to take directions and work alongside the foreman and journeymen carpenters as well. They should have good communication skills with their supervisors.
Laborer – Laborers should be physically fit, have a driver’s license, and own some basic tools, work boots, and gloves. They should have a willingness to learn the trade and to advance in the trade.
Painter – Should have some previous experience, own some basic tools, be physically fit, not afraid of heights, have a driver’s license and their own transportation. Painters committed to a career as a professional should have a truck or van with a rack as their mode of transportation (to transport ladders). Should be able to take directions and work alongside the foremen and journeymen carpenters as well. They should have good communication skills with their supervisors. They should have a willingness to learn the trade and to advance in the trade. Painters should be committed to the highest level of quality attainable; be extremely neat and efficient in their execution of the work.
Cape Associates Office and Field Operations Management Positions:
Senior Project Manager / Project Manager (PM)
Candidate must have a minimum 4-year college degree and 10 years experience executing complex, multi-million dollar high-end residential and commercial construction projects. Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience estimating and selling multi-million dollar residential projects. Preference given to candidates with Business Development experience, Construction Supervisor’s License (CSL) and green building experience (certified projects). Candidate should be a self-starter, be highly motivated and driven towards excellence.
Responsibilities include:
PM’s have total, single-source responsibility for project team success from inception to completion; must be able to shepherd clients through that process. PM’s manage multiple simultaneous projects from $30K to multi-million dollars in construction volume each and protect the company’s bottom line. PM’s nurture and develop relationships with clients, Architects and Engineers as well as continually expand their own professional network. PM’s should raise awareness of the Cape Associates brand through their professional interactions. PM’s deliver the highest quality product achievable while maintaining strict adherence to budget parameters set forth by the client. PM’s assist company leadership with project staffing projections, staff oversight and staff development. Must be very organized, have a keen sense of construction details and a passion for building projects.
PM’s are evaluated based upon the volume of sales they derive and the performance of the projects they oversee (quality, customer satisfaction and financial performance). PM is expected to achieve annual sales goals set by company leadership on an annual basis.
Assistant Project Manager (APM)
Responsibilities include: Assist and take work load from Project Managers and Vice Presidents in all phases of custom construction including estimating, sales, purchasing, scheduling and execution. Must be driven and growth oriented. APM must have strong communication skills with ability to use all modern communication methods. Produce detailed cost estimates for projects of various size (up to $250K) under the direction of and for Project Manager(s). Help apply-for and track building permits. Prepare cost reports for active projects. Work with customers on product selections such as tile, fixtures, etc. Bid out, then manage/schedule/oversee subcontractors. Must have ability to independently manage projects sold by others (up to $500K). Execute and close-out projects in a timely, efficient manner.
Knowledge and fluent use of the following software programs: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project; Adobe Reader (including editing PDF documents) and willing to learn our construction accounting software and client database software.
All field and office positions have physical demands; individuals are required to be able to lift 60 pounds.
